T20 World Cup 2012 Teams
In the year 2012, twelve teams will participate in the ICC World Twenty20 tournament. Out of twelve, 10 full members of ICC would qualify automatically. For the remaining two spots, sixteen qualifier teams will play ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier in early 2012. The tournament will include six ODI members and ten qualifiers from regional Twenty20 tournament. Two teams entering into final would be qualified for T20 World Cup 2012.
On paper, Australia, South Africa, India and hosts Sri Lanka appear menacing. While the foreign teams have well-oiled units, India and Sri Lanka are comfortable with existing conditions and have ferocious batsmen to burn the plate. Outside this quartet, one expects spasms of excitement from Pakistan, New Zealand and West Indies. While Pakistan has shown consistency in all past World Cups, the other two teams have blistering hitters to pose serious damage.
Defending champions England have always felt at bay on traditional slow pitches and may fizz down soon. Zimbabwe and Ireland have little merit and Afghanistan will be an ideal cardboard target. Meanwhile, surprise may emerge out of Bangladesh ranks, which is slowly growing into a business-minded unit. In all, twelve teams provide perfect ingredients for a feast.
